About the Department

Civil Engineering department is established in the year 2010. It offers an under graduate course in Civil Engineering with an intake of 60 students every year. Our main goal is to be the centre of excellence for the development and dissemination of knowledge in Structural, Construction management, Water Resources and management, Transportation, Environmental, Urban, Geotechnical, Remote sensing & GIS and its applications. The Department has good infrastructure, and it is well equipped with state- of- the art laboratory facilities necessary for imparting high quality education and is structured to meet out the present day needs of the Civil Engineering field. Students from our department have always proved to be meritorious. The department has well experienced and qualified faculty members who are regularly presenting papers in journals and conferences.

Mission

  • Offer consulting services for organizations in analysis, design and planning of the civil engineering systems.
  • Analyze, solve, design, and execute projects with the fundamental knowledge of Civil Engineering
  • Motivate students to pursue higher education through competitive examinations like GATE ,GRE, TOEFL, etc.,

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

The Program Educational Objectives for Civil Engineering program are designed to produce competent civil engineers who are ready to contribute effectively to the advancement of civil engineering and to fulfil the needs of the community. These objectives are as follows:

  1. Graduates will be prepared with strong engineering fundamentals leading to an excellent performance in professional career in planning, designing, construction, operation & maintenance of the built environment and global infrastructure that would meet the societal needs.
  1. Graduates will exhibit strong technical ability to create & synthesize data using relevant tools and concepts, for providing sustainable solutions to civil engineering problems and projects.
  1. Graduates will exhibit excellent interpersonal communication and resource-management skills as leaders in the civil engineering profession while working as a part of multidisciplinary team.
  1. Graduates will be prepared with sound foundation in mathematics, science and in Civil Engineering to prepare them for higher studies and research.
  1. Graduates will possess a breadth of knowledge and engage themselves in the life-long learning to meet challenges of globalisation.
  1. Graduates will have a sense of responsibility, respect towards society & its heritage and will follow the professional ethics.

The program outcomes of Civil Engineering Program are summarised as following

  1. Students will demonstrate the basic knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering.
  1. Students will demonstrate the ability to design and conduct experiments, interpret & analyse data, and report results.
  1. Students will demonstrate the ability to design a system, component, or a process that meets the desired specifications within realistic constraints.
  2. Students will demonstrate an ability to function in multidisciplinary team.
  1. Students will demonstrate the ability to identify, formulate and solve civil engineering problems.
  1. Students will demonstrate the understanding of their professional responsibilities ethically.
  1. Students will be able to communicate effectively to all concerned.
  1. Students will have the confidence to apply engineering solutions in global and social context.
  1. Students will recognize the need for and the ability to engage in life-long learning.
